Live Event “Mastering the Financial Media” with Tom Maddocks

We are pleased to invite you to a CFA Society Austria live event.  This event is in cooperation with CFA Institute.  Following the presentation drinks and finger food will be served.


Former BBC business journalist, Tom Maddocks, will lead a lively and interactive session to provide an inside look at financial journalism. He will explain how journalists think, what makes a news story, and how to deliver a good 'quote'.  To demonstrate an interaction with a journalist, and how it can be tailored for maximum impact.

Tom will interview Harald P. Holzer, CFA  on stage and give feedback on the interaction as it’s happening.

TOM MADDOCKS – BIO

Tom has over twenty years’ experience as a financial journalist and broadcaster, working in TV, radio and the UK national press. This includes a five-year spell a reporter on BBC Television’s ‘The Money Programme’, which was broadcast globally via BBC World, as well as to a domestic British audience. Tom is now acknowledged as one of the UK's leading authorities on media coaching and training, with an international client base. He works with financial services companies including banks, traditional and alternative asset managers and professional services firms as a media coach and consultant right up to CEO and Board level, helping senior company spokespeople craft messaging and communications strategies, and improve presentation skills. Tom also regularly works with the London Business School on one of their most senior Executive Education modules, and has been quoted as a leading expert on media issues in a range of publications including the Financial Times, Sunday Times, and Independent. He has moderated panels and conferences for a variety of clients on business and financial topics, where he is known for his lively and engaging style. Tom is the author of the book ‘The M-Factor: Media Confidence for Business Leaders and Managers’.
