The Global Markets: Disruptions, Opportunities, and Risks

In this session from the 72nd CFA Institute Annual Conference, Mohamed A. El-Erian shared his thoughts on the changing nature of global growth and liquidity regime changes at central banks. He also discussed the baseline and balance of economic and financial risks, the added complexity of risk mitigation, and active investors regaining the upper hand in fund management.

About the Speaker:

Mohamed A. El-Erian is a member of the Allianz International Executive Committee, chief economic adviser to Allianz's management board, chairman of President Obama's Global Development Council, and former CEO and co-chief investment officer at PIMCO. Previously, he served as president and CEO at the Harvard Management Company, the entity charged with managing the university's endowment, and as deputy director at the International Monetary Fund. Dr. El-Erian is a contributing editor at the Financial Times, a Bloomberg View columnist, and he has been published in Fortune/CNN MoneyForeign PolicyProject Syndicate, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. He is also the author of When Markets Collide. Dr. El-Erian serves on the boards of Cambridge in America, the Carnegie Endowment, and the National Bureau for Economic Research, and has served on the boards of the US Treasury's Borrowing Advisory Committee, the New York Federal Reserve Board's Investor Advisory Committee, and the International Center for Research on Women. He holds an undergraduate degree from Cambridge University and a master's degree and doctorate in economics from Oxford University.
